| Capcom to cut its European workforce by half - Report
Added: 03.10.2013 15:31 | 11 views | 0 comments
Capcom to lose over half its European workforce after string of unsuccessful game releases, new report says.
Capcom is looking to cut its European workforce by more than fifty percent, .
A difficult year is cited as the reason for the redundancies, after many of the publisher's titles failed to meet sales expectations.
The company's latest financial reports showed that both failed to meet sales expectations, and the recently-released Lost Planet 3 was unable to crack the UK top 20 in its first week on sale.
In a statement to MCV, Capcom said "following a restructure at its US operation, Capcom#133;s European organisation is currently evaluating its structure to ensure it is in the best position to take advantage of the changing market conditions the industry is facing."
Looking ahead, Capcom has Xbox One launch title Dead Rising 3 on the cards, and chart company Media Create reported that 3DS exclusive Monster Hunter 4, which is yet to launch across North America and Europe, sold 1.7 million copies during its first weekend on sale in Japan.
The publisher is also working on free-to-play adventure Deep Down for the PlayStation 4.

Like every Monday the major Japanese retailer Tsutaya released its software sales charts, that can be considered a good indicator of what happened in the Japanese video game market last week due to the the fact that the retail and rental chain has a very high number of stores spread across the whole country.
Monster Hunter 4 stays on top for the 3rd week in a row, while the new old Zelda fails to make a big splash.

Dan from mii-gamer:
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is the best title in the series yet. There is an enormous amount of content that will keep you entertained for hours on end, and combat never gets old. I urge everyone to go give this game a try, even if you tried a previous game in the series and were not won over. You may very well find yourself coming back to this title now and again just to kill one more Rathalos, one more Ludroth, one more Duramboros just to find that another five hours has gone by.
